ZEDGE is a personalization app for Android that brings wallpapers, ringtones, and an AI wallpaper maker together in one place. It is developed by Zedge and listed in the Personalization category. The app provides content from global artists and tools for customizing a device's look and sounds.
The app covers several areas of phone customization: high-resolution wallpapers, animated wallpapers, ringtones and notification sounds, and AI-generated artwork. Each area includes its own set of options, which are described below.
Wallpaper Collection
ZEDGE offers a large selection of wallpapers for the home and lock screens. The collection includes high-resolution and 4K choices, with wallpaper sets covering HD, 4K, retro, urban, anime, space, and art styles. Animal wallpapers are also mentioned among the available options.
Wallpapers can be personalized with filters, textures, and stickers. The app also supports automatic rotation, which lets users change the wallpaper based on mood or preference. This applies whether the user prefers a static look or variation.
Animated Wallpapers
Animated wallpapers are available as an alternative to static backgrounds. The catalog includes live wallpapers ranging from dynamic landscapes to abstract graphics. A single download packet allows switching between live wallpapers without downloading each one separately.
The app has worked to reduce power consumption compared with competing live wallpaper apps. This is intended to let users enjoy animated visuals while using their smartphone for longer periods.
Ringtones and Alerts
ZEDGE provides ringtones and notification sounds for calls and alerts. Users can set a ringtone for the phone and assign unique ringtones to individual contacts. The sound library includes funny tones, sound effects, and alarm sounds.
The app can access and manage sounds across linked devices, which is described as a way to keep sounds consistent when traveling. Some users have raised concerns about this access, as noted in the source material.
AI Wallpaper Maker
The AI wallpaper maker turns text into artwork. Users can describe a scene or idea and generate a wallpaper from it. The app also includes community art galleries for browsing artwork created by others, which can serve as inspiration.
Generated artwork can be set as a phone background. The AI feature is available for free use according to the source description. The source also notes that AI sometimes creates odd images.
